Momentum goals
Set a writing goal — time or words — for a document, a project, or everything, and watch it add up.
A momentum goal is a target for the effort you put in — minutes written or words written — at whatever level suits you: a single document, a whole project, or your account overall. Goals at a smaller level roll up into the bigger ones, so time in a chapter counts toward its book and toward your account, with nothing counted twice.
Effort, not length
A momentum goal measures the work you did, so it never drops for work you removed — write for an hour and delete it all, and the hour (and the words you typed) still count. That is different from a project’s word-count target, which tracks how long the manuscript actually is.
How to use it
- Turn on Writing activity under Settings → Writing activity first — momentum goals build on it and stay off until you do.
- Add a goal from Settings → Writing activity, or set one for the document you’re in right from the editor (“Set a goal for this document”). The first time, you choose the level to track — document, project, or account; you can keep goals at more than one level.
- Pick time (minutes) or words, then tap a quick preset or enter your own daily and/or weekly target. You can run a separate time goal and words goal at the same level.
- Watch progress and streaks on your dashboard, on the project, and in the editor. A day that is still in progress keeps your streak alive until it ends.
- Edit a target, or archive a goal, any time from the same place.
